Reasons to Be Free

Combination first assignment and also public service/"plea" video second assignment.

I have another idea for the second assignment that I may try out & post this weekend. Would include more combo video & pictures - but how do you do that without NLE software? Hope we can start in-lab office hours this weekend.

But, from a personal perspective, I look forward to your comments on this one.

  1. What's the "plea" you may ask? If you have ever worked in an office environment, then the opening art piece can symbolize a lot to you. It symbolizes a lot to me - but opening with an art piece, then showing my space as the nature of the confined cage of administration and office life is what it means to me. Then I highlight the two most important things to me: where I am from and live via the city map, and my nephew/family - also symbolizing hope for what example I set to a new generation. I end with the Allied Media poster because my plea is this:

Creativity is freedom, and having the freedom to be creative is a privilege that many of us don't have - even those of us fortunate enough to work. The plea is for everyone to actualize their freedom. My freedom is this Future City class, and all the plans I have this year to become a videographer & digital stortyeller. So, I personalized it.

  2. The last frames of the words, create , connect and transform made me in hind sight think you were pleading against "alienation". How working in unfulfilling cubicles or sitting behind counters or desk just leave us feeling lonely and disconnected from our loved ones who's pictures often decorate our desks or bulletin boards. For a first effort I applaud you for presenting a subject that was close to your heart. I suppose that this theme will be developed in further videos.
