I'm still quite excited about everything. I'm still quite imtimadated by the entire process but that's just a matter of gaining confidence and practice. I'm also experiencing some time restraints. I have a very busy work schedule so I will have to come to the lab on off hours to get additional time to work on project. I appreicate the one on one time with our instructor it helps tremendously. I know that there are some in the class that have much talent and experience and would like to ask for assistance from them also but I haven't approached them. I sit next to Jon and he helps me a lot but I don't want to get on his nerves.
I share a lot of Rhonda's concerns: I work full time and expected the lab to be more available, or at least more of an understanding how to use material across Mac and PC platforms. I hope the work I did for Asst. 3 & 4 came out well (2 interviews) because when I checked out equipment, I did not check to see the boom mic fit the Canon G12 camera - it did not, so I hope I got sound in the interviews. Not having time to check equipment and take time to setup for assignments makes me feel rushed through the course. I still don't know how to edit, yet, we get to shoot for organizations and do our major project. I guess like everything the class is what you put into it...
And, I like having the notes in advance of class, and the guest speakers. They help all of this sink in. I'm excited to freelance and see what can come of this work and this community, and will be very excited to teach and train others later on!
So far, I am still learning the nomenclature of the field for example when I borrowed the FLIP I neglected to check the thingamijig for the do hickey and therefore it didn't work when I attempted to charge the thingamabob. I realize that there is a learning curve and feel assured that I will improve but there is not enough time for questions during class. I also have a camera tha tI have been bringing since the second class and still awaiting an opportunity to figure out how to get the movie from the camera onto the computer. Hope springs eternal:)
